School uniform is something that is essential for children and yet it seems that many shops take advantage of this and charge the earth. Parents often don’t want or simply cannot afford to spend hundreds of pounds on school uniform, but by the time you have purchased cardigans or jumpers, trousers or dresses, PE kits, school shoes, trainers, bags and socks/tights it is very easy to reach this amount.

Most supermarkets have started to sell school uniform but a pair of girls school shoes can still cost about £18 and often will not last a full year. Try and take advantage of the offers that shops have on a uniform or save up money off vouchers such as Nectar points or Tesco Clubcard points to redeem against your purchases in the summer holidays.

Also, remember to consider the quality of the clothes as there is no point in buying really cheap clothing that will need to be replaced in a month or two as it hasn’t lasted. Be sure to label all school items as children have a tendency to lose them very easily, which is not what you want when you have spent a fortune.
