Anyone who has young children will tell you that they grow out of their clothes so fast it is sometimes difficult to keep up with them. Although children’s clothing can be bought quite cheaply in some high street stores the quality is not wonderful but buying better quality children’s clothes is more expensive so unless you are confident that the clothes can be passed down to younger siblings you are faced with a dilemma.
Some parents find that making their own children’s clothes is a good solution to this problem and get a lot of satisfaction from doing so. Simple dresses and tops can be made easily from fabric sourced from markets or fabric shops that sell off roll ends and patterns can be found online or sometimes from charity shops or online auction sites. Zips, buttons and other fastenings can also be bought at these places.
If you can knit or crochet, wool can be bought quite cheaply from bargain high street shops making this a good way of producing jumpers and cardigans for your children. Knitting needles and crochet hooks can often be bought from charity shops or borrowed from friends and family members and patterns can be bought cheaply online or even downloaded for free.
