As a parent it can be hard to know when to start putting your child in shoes. Some parents put pram shoes on their children almost immediately whilst others think it is better to wait until they are walking.

Shoe experts often suggest not putting your child in “walking” shoes until they have been walking confidently for a month or so but that pram shoes that are more for look than to serve a purpose can be used from any age.

Once your child is walking though it is vital to get them good fitting shoes as incorrectly fitted shoes can actually cause damage to the growth of their feet and also make them more prone to accidental falls.

Children’s shoes can be expensive but I would strongly recommend taking them to a shoe shop to get their feet measured properly instead of trying to guess the size yourself, as you may be surprised to find how many people put their children in the wrong sized footwear.
